“Fox Hunt Drive” Movie Review by Sylvia Gullatt

Want to freak yourself out on your next ride share experience? Watch this film. This film wastes no time right out the gate. The opening scene is a tense altercation of a seemingly terrified female. We are introduce to Alison Meyers portrayed by Lizzie Zerebko who’s recent projects include Netflix Disjointed and For the People. Alison a down on her luck architect, earns a living by providing ride shares for an app called Backseat. You quickly feel sympathetic for her when you see what kind of customers she interacts with daily.
During a routine ride pickup Alison picks up a sinister mysterious passenger played my Michael Olavason who’s films include The Grey and Orders. When questioned about his identity he becomes deceptive and elusive this is when the film does a good job of ramping up the suspense. You actually fear for Allison’s character even though we were just introduced to this character minutes ago. Majority of the films dialogue is in the confined space of the vehicle. Using rear facing camera shots, which gets old very quickly.
It’s not to difficult to get ahead of this movie and you can guess the path this film takes. Every other character in this film are minor and forgettable, except for Kathy the alligator. As for ramping up the tension this is done well. There are scenes that have you fearing for our Backseat driver, as well as some questionable decisions that she makes.
This film is directed by Drew Walkup. Walkup is known for his work on Youtube series call Epic Rap Battles of History. My favorite battle is Rick Grimes vs Walter White. This seems to be Walkup’s first attempt in the film industry. And it’s not a bad start. Fox Hunt Drive is written by Marcus Devivo whose prior work includes The Grey.
