“Crazy Delicious” Review by Brooke Daugherty

Netflix’s Crazy Delicious is a British food competition show that is less Bake Off and more Alice cooking for the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland. The set is a magical forest where contestants “forge” for ingredients. There are cheeses in a tree and real plants to snip off for freshness. Contestants create their culinary masterpieces for “the gods”–chefs Carla Hall, Heston Blumenthal, and Niklas Ekstedt sitting aloft in heaven wearing all white. All with comedian Jayde Adams in formal wear as host.
Each episode, three new contestants face off in two rounds trying to reinvent a predetermined dish. Two go on to compete for the final challenge and the Golden Apple. The gods act as mentors as well as judges while Adams fills the role of timekeeper/comic relief/presenter. Every episode starts with her biting into a seemingly normal object to reveal it is, in fact, an edible creation.
With the bright colors and whimsical presentation, this show is family friendly and has enough to hold the attention of more children than most cooking shows. Anyone with an interest in unconventional cooking should watch. Some of the flavor combinations and displays are awe inspiring. It may even motivate you to be more adventurous with your cooking.
